Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to immerse myself in the dynamic world of education technology at Bett 2024, the global meeting place for the EdTech community. With over 30,000 attendees, it was not just a gathering; it was a melting pot of ideas, innovations, and a testament to the evolving landscape of education technology.
AI Takes Centre Stage in Education
It was surprisingly re-assuring to see the teaching community talking about how they are starting the journey to embrace AI in the classroom whether through helping children with learning disabilities, or streamlining the marking/grading process, AI definitely is making its mark in the education space.
While Vizst isn’t directly involved in classroom technology delivery, our role in managing and securing the underlying infrastructure is pivotal. The synergy between AI and education technology is a powerful reminder that innovation in one area propels advancements in others.
The Evolving Role of AI in IT Security
For me, the AI around security operations was also forefront on some vendors minds, having the ability to enhance the security protections in place across Microsoft, Acronis and Fortinet (among the vendors I spoke to on the day) was re-assuring to see what is already in place and what is coming.
AI in IT security is not a novel concept, but its evolution has transformed it into a tangible and comprehensible tool for day-to-day operations.
Bett 2024: More Than “Same Tech, Different Year”
Some may dismiss Bett as a “same tech, different year” event, but my experience proved otherwise. Networking, arriving with an open mind, and a thirst for learning unveiled the true value of the event. This year, AI took centre stage for the first time, and it didn’t disappoint.
In my opinion, Bett 2024 was more than just a tech showcase; it was a glimpse into the future of education technology and IT security. The harmonious integration of AI in education and cybersecurity operations signals a promising era of innovation and collaboration.
